Global VC Funding

March 9, 2015

The US continues to be the global epicenter for VC and other types of early stage funding. Based on data from CrunchBase, US based companies raised $54.5 billion over the past five years compared to $27.5 billion for the rest of the world. The major European-based companies collectively raised $7.5 billion followed by China with $4.6 billion and Japan with $4.2 billion. There may be some bias in this data steaming from its crowd-sourcing approach and English language focus.  The degree of omitted data is uncertain.
