Douglas D. Haynes
Douglas (Doug) Haynes, President of Sphaerus, LLC., is a philanthropist and counselor to top executives.
Doug graduated summa cum laude in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University and was a Shermet Scholar at the Darden Graduate School of Business. He worked as a software developer for the Central Intelligence Agency and as a design engineer and marketing professional at GE Plastics before joining McKinsey & Company in 1992. At McKinsey, he helped build the firm’s practices in Basic Materials, Operations, and High Tech and was a member of the Atlanta, London, Connecticut, and New York offices. He led the Northeast Region before retiring after 22 years in the firm. Doug joined Point72 Asset Manager as an advisor and became President within six months. His four-year tenure featured outperformance of peer competitors, restoration of the founder’s SEC license, launch of the firm’s venture capital arm and, at the time, the industry’s largest single round capital raise. Doug founded Sphaerus, LLC to continue his 25-year study of enterprise leadership effectiveness.
Doug is a founding board member for The Center for Global Enterprise, a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting effective leadership of global businesses. He is an active philanthropist for the causes of poverty-fighting and veterans’ support. He is a founding board member of the Cohen Veteran’s Network and Cohen Veteran’s Bioscience organizations. He is a board member of the Robin Hood Foundation in New York and Camp Southern Ground in Georgia. He also serves on the boards of technology startup companies – ChainIQ, a Swiss logistics provider and FRISQ, a Swedish health information services provider. He has served as a board member and/or advisor to Singtel Corporation, the Darden Graduate School of Business, Villanova University, the Canterbury School, and the Randolph Macon Academy.
Doug and his wife, Laurice, live in Scarborough, New York. Laurice is the founder of T2X Rehabilitation and Functional Mobility and a board member of Rising Starr Equine Rescue. They are the parents of five adult children.
