We are thrilled to share with you the 2020-2021 Annual Program Report, which outlines the triumphs and trials of the past program year. As you review it, I hope you will take note of several things:
The cohort described in these pages existed entirely during COVID restrictions. Despite these conditions, many succeeded in growing their businesses, including Pyemwa Deshi, who expanded student enrollment and employee headcount by being innovative in times of crisis. Read more about her story on p. 13.
Virtual community building and self-improvement took on new urgency, and 80% successfully completed our rigorous 12-month program. On p. 16 of the report, Uloma Obichere’s story demonstrates the importance of community as she connected with her peers to grow her e-commerce site. AWEC has a tangible impact on business and lives, with 54% of Fellows increasing their revenue after completing the program. And the impact doesn’t stop there. On p. 32, alumna Loide Uushona recounts how AWEC empowered her to make bold business decisions that drove revenue and enabled her healthcare company to grow her team by 10x.
